Hakama with Black/Grey Stripes
We hope you will like this newest addition to our choice of hakamas.
Hakama are the trousers that the samurai wore. They were the normal wear and not
designed to hide the feet, or give the illusion of floating. In fact, the hakama was
tucked up through the belt when a confrontation was imminent, just as the sleeves of
the kimono were tied back with a tasuki. There were many types and styles that came in
numerous colors and designs. The samurai were fond of vertical stripes as well as other
patterned designs. Our quality Hakama are made in Japan, and this grey and black striped one is 100% cotton.
This particular striped pattern was one of the most popular for Kenjutsu and Ju Jutsu training
in the 19th century. To determine your size, measure from the top of your obi to
2 1/2" above the ground.
