Hidden Secrets of Japanese Swordsmanship
HIdden Secrets of Japanese Swordsmanship

This video contains the Hasegawa-Eishin Ryu, which is the chuden or middle level of Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido. It is the third video in the "Hidden Secrets of Japanese Swordsmanship" series. This style is presented as it was taught to me by my teacher, Mitsuzuka Takeshi, Sensei of Tokyo, Japan founder and head of the San Shin Kai International. The video contains detailed descriptions of each technique and kata of the Hasegawa Eishin Ryu, as well as their bunkai (application). Each kata is first performed slowly, and then at regular speed. Each is shown from the front view and also at another angle for clarity. The footwork of each kata is then shown slowly without hakama to reveal the complex pivoting and foot movements required by the traditional bunkai.

Roger Wehrhahn has been a student of the martial arts since 1969. He has trained extensively in Karate, Kobudo, Ju Jutsu and Iaido. He became a student of Mitsuzuka Takeshi, Sensei in 1984, and has been awarded the rank of Shihan, 6th dan, in Muso Shinden Ryu in the San Shin Kai. He currently heads the North American San Shin Kai and travels across the United States and Canada teaching Iaido.
