Bokken have been used for sword practice for centuries. They are a valuable practice tool for students of Ken-jitsu. Miyamoto Musashi was said to have used bokken in actual duels, he killed Sasaki Kojiro with a bokken that he made from an oar. Our bokken, and other wooden weapons are made from Hickory. Our bokken are slightly longer than most handles, to duplicate the dimensions of the blades and handles that the samurai fought with.
