THE SWORD > Bugei Exclusive Swords

The Japanese Sword has long been considered the soul of the samurai. It has been the centerpiece of the samurai for centuries, all aspects of life revolved around the etiquette of the Japanese sword. Bugei is proud to offer a broad selection of katana, wakizashi, and tanto for the discerning practitioner.

Our swords are designs exclusive to Bugei Trading Company. Each design and prototype goes through copious amounts of testing and refinement before it is offered up for sale. We hire skilled professional sword craftsmen to design each of our exclusive swords. All of this is done in order to bring you the finest in craftsmanship and modern metallurgy.

Although not exclusive to Bugei Trading, one of the most popular entry level inexpensive swords on the market is the new Hanwei Raptor Line. These are simple, through hardened blades that are super tough and forgiving. We carry the Raptors as a service to our customers and as always we'll meet or beat any retail price. Click here to see the Raptor Line of inexpensive performance katana.

We also have custom sword stands made of a variety of exotic hard woods. These katanakake (katana stands) and tachikake (tachi stands) are made for us by a local craftsman of a variety of beautifully grained hardwoods. Your new sword deserves a quality sword stand.

Tanto

Bugei Tanto

The tanto is the knife worn traditionally by the Samurai. The tanto was not so much a working knife, but a secondary weapon that was kept with him at all times. For more information on the use of tanto we have a video covering Tanto-Jitsu in our instructional video library.

Wakizashi
Wakizashi

Bugei Wakizashi

The katana was the "primary" weapon of the samurai. However, often the samurai would carry a second blade, a tanto or wakizashi, to be used as a "backup" of sorts. Also, traditionally it was considered very rude to enter a house without removing your katana at the door. And instead of staying unarmed they would normally leave either the tanto or wakizashi in their belt. Wakizashi are any blade over about 12" long and under about 24" long although most were usually around 18.
