These are a special offering, the highest quality Japanese white oak bokken. This style is offered both with and without bo-hi, and is compatible with our plastic tsuba and saya.
This premium quality Japanese white oak bokken is crafted to Itto Ryu specifications. 38.5 inches in length.
This premium quality Japanese white oak suburito bokken is extra long and heavy making it excellent for building the
specific type of strength needed for swordsmanship. "Tanren" training (think of it as physical and spiritual forging) with a
suburito allows you to learn how to control a heavier sword with your entire body rather than relying on arms alone.
This type of bokken is 46 inches in length.
Please note that we only have the suburito without the groove at this time. Suburito have been extremely difficult
to get in stock over the last few years with the increased interest in "internal training" in swordsmanship and martial arts in general.
Each suburito weighs about 1 kilogram or about 2.2 pounds.
Pictured from top to bottom are the standard wakizashi bo (22"), and the standard tanto bo (11.5"). All of these are made from premium quality Japanese white oak. Standard wakizashi bo is available with plastic tsuba.
Bokken have been used for sword practice for centuries. They are a valuable practice tool for students of Ken-jitsu. Miyamoto Musashi was said to have used bokken in actual duels, he killed Sasaki Kojiro with a bokken that he made from an oar. Our bokken, and other wooden weapons are made from Hickory. Our bokken are slightly longer than most handles, to duplicate the dimensions of the blades and handles that the samurai fought with.
This is a new bokken line made from beautiful Ipe wood. Available in 30"/15" (blade/handle), 28"/14" (blade/handle), Wakizashi, and Tanto.
Another addition to our Ipe practice weapon line this Jo is an excellent training tool made from the finest Ipe wood.
